The original miners’ village lies like a swallow’s nest on the rock between Salzberg and the deep green Lake Hallstatt. Hallstatt enchants visitors from all over the world with its dramatic natural and cultural landscape and its 7,000-year old history.

Let yourself be carried away to another time by the Gothic architecture, the dignified ambience and the flair of this traditional family business in the BRÄUGASTHOF in the heart of Hallstatt.

First mentioned in a document in 1472, Emperor Maximilian I. granted the house the right to brew beer in 1504. Since then, for 500 yearsit has been operating as a brewery.

The Lobisser-Höplinger family has lived and managed the historically authentic house – the Bräugasthof – for 150 years. My grandfather Josef Höplinger was brought to the brewery by his aunt from St. Wolfgang. With his wife Elfriede and later his son-in-law Arnold with Verena, thanks to their manual skills, the house was maintained, renovated and furnished. With much emotion, love and, above all, a lot of work, they managed to turn the brewery into a jewel case. In 2007 Verena Lobisser jun. after numerous film & world trips took over the parental company to continue to run the Bräugasthof as a cultural meeting place with concerts, readings … for guests and friends from near and far.

On our unique lake terrace located under a 150-year-old chestnut tree and in our cosy dining rooms we serve Austrian cuisine and ‘cellar’ specialties.

We are looking forward to give you a real attitude towards life and an unforgettable Hallstatt experience.

Welcome!
